"Late Summer and early winter views of Sawtell Peak from Henry's
Fork below the Henry's Lake outlet confluence provide seasonal moods for the angler.
The Tubs, haven for large rainbows, whitefish and occasional brook trout, and
cutthroat trout escapees from Henry's Lake are the main angling features here. The rewards of fishing the Tubs were described decades ago by writers such as Ray Bergman and Alexander McDonald. More recently, Charlie Brooks describes them in his spell binding book: The Henry's Fork."

"The most celebrated mayfly emergence from eastern Idaho waters is
that of the green drake in the Harriman State Park region of the Henry's Fork....All green drake dun patterns are best presented on a dead drift from aside and above. During the peak of the daily emergence many fish will be taking duns which begin emerging when water temperatures reach the mid-50s Fahrenheit. Thus it becomes possible to present flies to a very large fish and the chances are good that an exhilarating encounter will result." Quote and Photo courtesy of Bruce Staples. All Rights Reserved

"The most widespread mayflies found in eastern Idaho waters are
Baetis species, commonly known as the blue winged olives. ...When representing
dun imitations one must achieve a drag free drift through the feeding lane of a rising fish......Several of the blue winged olive duns are popular in eastern Idaho".

This 14 inch brook trout took a beaded nymph at the handicap access on the Buffalo River in Island Park. It's a good-sized "Brookie" for our area. The warmth of some waters often prevent these brightly colored little trout from reaching full maturity.
